Officers of the SFS Chernivtsi Customs jointly with representatives of Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Chernivtsi region and Chernivtsi border detachment stopped an attempt on illegal transportation of 62.800 packs of tobacco products was stopped at the checkpoint “Porubne” of the customs post “Vadul-Siret” with the help of service dog Rocky.
Excisable goods were discovered during an in-depth inspection of truck “VOLVO” with semi-trailer “KOGEL” driven by a 35-year-old resident of Chernivtsi region who was going from Ukraine to Romania in official affairs.
For customs clearance the carrier’s representative submitted the shipping documents, according to which the cargo of specified truck was “hardwood charcoal”, the sender of which was an enterprise from Zhytomyr region and the buyer was a Romanian firm.
During the customs inspection of cargo it was detected that a part of the polypropylene bags (about 100) was filled with cigarettes instead of charcoal. Also, during the recalculation of cargo units, the inconsistency of the information specified in the shipping documents was discovered.
According to this fact, regarding the driver of the company-carrier, the customs officers instituted cases on the violation of customs rules prescribed by Article 470 and Part 1 Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
Tobacco products of domestic production, namely “Marlboro”, “Rothmans” and “Rothmans Royals” with a total cost of 2 million 708 thousand 400 UAH were seized on the basis of protocol.
