Tax police changes philosophy of interaction with business

13.05.2020 -

Acting Commissioner of the State fiscal service of Ukraine Serhii Solodchenko assured about this during today’s online meeting with representatives of the European Business Association.

“I have a great wish to change approaches established over the years in the work of tax police. It is not only about changing the name, but also about changing the philosophy of work” – noted acting Commissioner of the SFS.

According to him, as of today there is an objective need to initiate the renaming of the SFS, for example, to the Tax Investigation Service, which will operate until the creation of a fundamentally new state body to deal with financial crimes.

“I am interested in the opinion of business regarding the need for such changes. This, in fact, will solve many problematic issues, including positioning of the service. After all, we are still confused with the STS (State Tax Service) or with the SCS (State Customs Service), which creates additional complications” – commented Serhii Solodchenko.

Participants of the web conference agreed that the main task of the tax police should remain the counteraction against economic offenses. So, among the discussed issues were: the counteraction against illegal market of alcohol beverages; mechanisms for controlling the sale of excisable products and household appliances via social networks and Internet; control over the shipment of alcohol with the help of postal operators; cooperation with the cyber-police and other law enforcement agencies to identify site owners and providers who facilitate illegal sale via the Internet.

Serhii Solodchenko expressed readiness to join the joint elaboration of legal norms that protect interests of the legal business and create fair competition at market. In particular, to discuss the feasibility of introducing the draft Law on e-commerce that will establish the uniform rules for sale of alcohol beverages via the Internet.
